In mid January this year Ushi, our third Guide Dog Puppy and a black Labrador bitch, was waiting to leave us for training at Leamington when Mel, our GDP          supervisor, arrived at our house with Kara, another black Labrador bitch and our next puppy.
Kara introduced herself to Ushi by    leaping up and biting her ear, which pretty much set the scene for the next three weeks together. Kara decided to launch herself at Ushi at every              opportunity, and she definitely did not grasp the meaning of "respecting your elders".

decided Ushi's tail was her new toy.

After 3 weeks, the day we all dread      arrived and we bid a tearful farewell to Ushi as she left for Leamington. Now 6 weeks on Ushi has settled in Leamington and Kara is developing into a lovely puppy.

In summing up the pros and cons of    having overlapping puppies I would say that providing you have the time and    patience having two can certainly benefit the younger puppy. Kara's spending     routine was certainly helped by watching Ushi, and she always slept all night with Ushi for company.

Since being on her own Kara's a very easy puppy to have living with us and I believe Ushi's influence helped in this regard, and whilst it can be a busy time with two dogs there was a lot of    laughter over those weeks.

Ushi keeps an eye on Kara

After a few days Ushi decide she'd enough of this little upstart and used her weight and size to pin Kara to the ground using her paws to hold her in check.
Not to be outdone Kara chose to adopt guerilla tactics and began hiding behind objects in order to ambush Ushi as she walked past. Over the remaining weeks a fragile peace did break out and Kara got to know her place, although Ushi never let her guard down particularly when Kara
