Hi there Puppytails readers, Lexie here (Spinone x Labrador), I thought you would all like to know what I am doing now. Well………You will be pleased to hear that along with most of my siblings I am a fully qualified guide dog, I am working with a lovely man in Wiltshire.
After leaving Mum, Dad and ex guide dog Kay, I found myself at the Leamington Training Centre where I was put in a  kennel!!! Thankfully I was soon with a lovely boarder called Julie. My trainer was Karen who I quickly grew to love.
One day I was walking with Karen in Leamington town centre when suddenly I caught a whiff of Mum and Dad. Was it or wasn't it? I had a look round and couldn't see anyone except for a highly suspicious looking person hiding in a doorway! I must have been mistaken. We returned to the van and back we went to the centre. Karen took me to the coffee lounge and low and behold my Mum and Dad were there. To say we were all excited is an understatement. Eventually Dad persuaded Mum to leave me (I think she was seriously thinking of kidnapping me).
A few weeks later I found myself in a car with a lady called Sue who I found out later was my new trainer. Another change and a new boarder. Now, before you think poor dog…HOW EXCITING! Some more people to love me. I spent Christmas with my boarder Geraldine and her family which was fab. I was dressed up in a Santa hat and scarf and enjoyed opening my presents.
After Christmas the real work began with

my wonderful new owner. After several weeks together working with Sue we qualified.
I have a great life taking my new best friend to work then bringing him home again after a quick pint in the pub now and again.
My Mum and Dad loved me, Karen and Sue adored me and now my new owner and his family think I am fantastic. Ok, so I am a bit big headed but why not?
I am just one of several thousand      qualified guide dogs around the UK. We are all happy, well cared for dogs who give our guide dog owners confidence,  independence as well as love and         companionship. They in return are with us all day every day and love us to bits. I have a wonderful life as a guide dog, I am a very proud girl.

Love from guide dog Lexie
